Our Core Competencies
Tailored Digital Solutions Impacting Communities
We promote digital literacy among small and under-resourced nonprofits, social enterprises, and social influencers as a strategy for contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We also support those who have had a significant impact on communities or have the potential to do so by providing free web development, subsidised website domains and hosting.
Join Our Matching Programme
We match and pair volunteer WordPress developers with non-profits, social enterprises, and passionate social influencers throughout Africa and beyond to empower them with the digital expertise they need to amplify their impact and reach their goals.
Apply for Our Non-Cash Grants
Under-resourced nonprofits, social enterprises, and individual social influencers can apply for various tech services, including free domains, hosting, crowdfunding, social media automation, and free access to Canva Premium features, among others.
Networking & Partnering With Us
We are eager to form dynamic partnerships with diverse stakeholders in the digital space and work together to realise the ambitious goals and objectives of the First Web Foundation. Our collaboration will harness collective strengths and innovations that impact communities.
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
With appropriate online tools, virtual volunteers worldwide can work with nonprofits, social enterprises, and social influencers in Africa and beyond to leverage the power of the internet and digital technology, such as social media, crowdfunding platforms, and blogging, among others, to help, for example, bring food and water to the ultra-poor, as well as medicines in clinics within under-resourced communities.
Our Proven Process
How First Web Foundation Provides Tailored Digital Solutions
STEP 1
Initial Consultation
Start by submitting an online application for our non-cash grant programme via a comprehensive form on our website. We ensure that we review your application within 14 days (it may take longer depending on the number of applications). If we are satisfied with your application, we’ll arrange for an initial consultation. We’ll notify you typically within seven days after the virtual consultation, if you qualify to proceed to the next stage.
STEP 2
In-Depth Problem Analysis
This step is dependent on two conditions: You’ve passed the first step, and we have identified a volunteer to be paired with your organisation (or you, if you applied as an individual social influencer). Together with our volunteers, we’ll further analyse the digital gaps you highlighted in Step 1 and assess your current potential and commitment. We’ll only work with beneficiaries that demonstrate commitment right from the beginning.
STEP 3
Strategy Development
A thorough analysis of gaps in digital skills and tools in the previous step will be key to creating a detailed and strategic plan of action. We’ll develop a thoughtful approach that not only addresses current challenges but also anticipates future opportunities for growth and innovation. This comprehensive strategy will effectively align our resources and capabilities, which we’ll transfer to your organisation. Most importantly, we’ll aim to guide your team toward achieving measurable objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
STEP 4
Seamless Implementation
Now that we have a clear strategy for deploying digital solutions that impact your organisation’s community, it’s time to set their implementation in motion. However, your organisation must make online payments for a flat, nominal administrative fee of $30. Please note that at First Web Foundation, we do not sell any products or services. The small mandatory administration fee is essentially a token of your commitment to staying on the programme. It’s incomparable with the actual value of the products and services we provide.

“I’ve come to realise that digital divides aren’t just about who has internet access. They’re about who has the knowledge, tools, and support to use technology effectively and efficiently.”
– George Mwika Kayange,
First Web Founder

“Digital tools don’t just make work easier. They save organisations. They amplify impact. They connect local solutions to global support.”
– Simon Manda,
First Web Co-Founder & Trustee

Training went well. Learnt some great skills which I’ll definitely use and try to monetise my business. I’m proud to have been part of this training and hopefully can train others as well. Canva is a handy tool, especially for small business owners.

Canva is easy to learn. The facilitator was excellent. The training went well in general, and I learned a lot of profound skills related to designing with Canva. I wish to upskill, and Executive Edge Coaching has the right professionals to help.
